Learn why silos form as organisations grow and how governance, ownership clarity and structured information flow help maintain alignment.
Silos usually start with focus. As organisations grow, teams become more specialised. What was once handled collectively begins to divide across functions โ engineering, operations, finance, customer support. Each team develops its own priorities, its own responsibilities and, over time, its own way of working.
At this stage, specialisation feels like progress. Teams move faster within their own domain. The shift only becomes visible later. What starts as focus gradually turns into distance, because there is no longer a shared structure holding everything together.
